Indian loves sports which is the reason why there are numerous sports played in India, from popular sports such as football and Cricket to lesser known local games Kho- kho, Langdi and Gillidanda. Cricket is the most popular sport in India and is a part of the Indian culture which is played in every corner of India. BCCI is the body for Indian cricket and the Indian Premier League is the most watched cricket leagues in the world. Indian cricket team is the winner of all format of Cricket including Twenty20 World Cup, 2011 Cricket World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and ICC Test Championship.

Badminton is the second most popular sports in India which is governed by the Badminton Association of India. The Indian Badminton players are dominating the world in all kind of Championships, namely P.V. Sindhu, Saina Nehwal,Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta.

The King Sport – Football – is very popular in the state of Kerala, Goa, West Bengal and north-eastern India. India is also home to some of the world professional players like Bhaichung Bhutia and Sunil Chhetri.

Kabaddi is the sports popularized as a competitive sport and is a part of the Asian Games, and the international kabaddi competition – Kabaddi World Cup and Pro Kabaddi League. Pro Kabaddi League is second most watched league in India after IPL. The league uses a franchise based model with the same set of rules as indoor version of Kabaddi and 2019 season of Pro Kabaddi League features 12 teams.

Field Hockey is one of the oldest sports played in India, and is considered as the unofficial National sport of India. Odisha field hockey is the most dominant form of field hockey in India and a league called Premier Hockey League governed the sport.
